Katie had her first litter in February 2024 (see our pages on it here and here). She was a great, caring Mom, and we’ve seen lovely temperaments and structure in the puppies so far. We live with two of the puppies – Ryder and Ella. In her first litter, we had a wide range of Golden shades, all the way from fairly dark (Ryder) to fairly light (Ella).
Katie is our “girlie”, and not a breeding machine, so she had a break with her next season to get back to enjoying regular life without too many responsibilities (well, any, really). Now, we are making plans to breed her with her next season.
Expected litter timing: We are expecting Katie in early 2025. High level, and assuming Mother Nature does not adjust the schedule, we are anticipating puppies in late spring, with puppies going home early summer. We will adjust timing once we know more.

Just like our adults, our litters are raised in our home. Our family room floor gets covered with linoleum, my computer gets moved to the kitchen table, and the babies are raised where we can see and interact with them all day long. The couch is a pretty comfy bed.
The first three weeks are critical to a puppy’s development, and paying particular attention to this time can increase the puppies’ resilience and ability to handle new situations throughout their lives. Shaping how a puppy can handle their adult life starts before eyes and ears open.
To encourage the development of an adaptable puppy, we follow the Puppy Culture protocol, and include ENS (early neurological stimulation) performed daily on days 3-16. (You can read more about this here).
As the puppies grow we add new experiences to help the puppies gently stretch their adaptability to what will come their way in their forever homes, including introduction to potty and crate training. We can do a lot in the 8 weeks the puppies are with us – but much will also be needed from you once the puppy is yours. We develop the foundation you can build on to have a wonderful member of your family in the years to come.
Autumntrail puppies leave us vet checked, dewormed, microchipped, with first vaccinations and their health record. All are registered with the CKC. Pet puppies are sold on a non-breeding registration and contract. All puppies have 30 days of free health insurance from Trupanion, and we provide a two-year health guarantee for inheritable illnesses, given good care on your part.
We provide a lifetime of support to you and your puppy. This includes the requirement that if you can’t keep the puppy for any reason during its lifetime s/he be returned to us so we can ensure each Autumntrail puppy is well and safe throughout its life.
